A German serial killer, with a penchant for cannibalism, claimed that he consumed parts of his victims to save money during a time when meat was scarce and costly. He managed to evade capture for two decades, and astonishingly, six other individuals were arrested for crimes he had committed.

Joachim Kroll’s gruesome spree of violence eventually came to a halt when he obstructed a communal toilet with the remains of one of his victims, ultimately leading to his apprehension.

Kroll, born in 1933 during the tumultuous rise of the Nazi party in Germany, was the youngest of eight siblings. Regarded as “feeble” by his family and community, he endured constant degradation throughout his upbringing. This unstable environment, exacerbated by the instability of World War II, likely contributed to his later adult crimes.

As a child, Kroll suffered from chronic bed-wetting, a source of profound humiliation for him. Disturbingly, reports indicate that he engaged in the sexual abuse of animals.
